Mothers-In-Law---GRRRRR!
by teenyuck inlast week i spoke to my mother-in-law for the first time since visiting her ugly ass, at christmas, in florida.
i, unfortuantly, picked up the telephone without checking caller id.
it was not her usual sunday evening call.

I am so fortunate! My parents-in-law are lovely, kind people. I can't say that we are super close, but they have never caused any problems in our marriage. They have always been welcoming, and have helped us as as much as they are able. If they need help, I help them. If we need help, they help us. They have a wonderful sense of humour, are extremely independent and very full of life.
I hope that I'm able to do as good a job being a mother in-law someday.

Good morning hawk,
Just to let you know that I have not heard anything at all from the Dad. I will leave him alone unless something changes. There has been nothing new in the local papers regarding this case. I hope others have been able to contact the man.
My greatest fear is that the daughter's condition will deteriorate, and the father will blame himself for going against "Jehovah's Will". At least, he made sure that she has a fighting chance. -

Blood for JW`s- Some can?

Beans, this is the last post on the issue. There hasn't been any follow up in our local paper (200 miles away). Hawk has spoken to the father, and I don't know if anyone else has. I have e-mailed him, but have not received any replies. I will let the poor man be, and perhaps there are others who have been able to help him. He has a great deal of courage, and now his life is down crashing around him.

Hi Princess,
We skiied at Whistler at New Years about 9 years ago. It was too warm and drizzling at the bottom of the hill but lovely up top. My husband goes with a bunch of his buddies every year, usually in January, and has had great conditions most years. Now, if you want great skiing, come to the Rocky Mountains in Alberta. Marmot Basin near Jasper or Sunshine or Lake Louise near Banff. -

How important is good spelling?
by sleepy inif you read my post's you may have noticed i'm not the best at spelling.. i think i could be dyslexic, my father and one of my sisters are, and i tend to make the same mistakes.. also i havent had the need to do much writing since i left school so i'm out of practise.. i believe i'm getting in better, at least i hope so .. anyway the point is this.i once had a discusson with a brother about spelling.he believed there was a correct absolute standard for spelling words, which was the oxford dictionary.. the way it was spelt there is the way to spell it.. if they changed the spelling you should change.. but i feel things like spelling are not absolute.of course people need to understand what we write.but i feel small changes to words to make them fit more inline with how we say them would be benifical.. what is the point of having a word spelt a different way to how it is said?.
but do you judge poster's intelligence on their spelling?.
i guess we mostly do.. how important to you is the way people spell?

Important enough, that I wish Simon had put a spell check on this forum. I hope the new version of the board will have it. (please)

Most JW are innocent
by lv4fer inyou have to remember that the majority of jw are really sincere, god-fearing people who are trying to the best of their abilities to live a christian life.
they are just mislead.
it is very hard to get them to see that they are misguided so it is imperative that we do this in a subtle manner.

lv4fer,
I think you have a good point there. Most of the people on this very board have been JW at one point in their lives, and I would guess that most of them are really nice people in real life.
As an outsider, I would say that overall, JWs aren't "bad" people. They just REALLY believe what they believe and don't question a thing. This leads to very strange and sometimes extremely cruel treatment of others who don't 100% agree. I still find it pretty bizarre, but then I am "worldy" after all. -

Thank you for letting us know how they are doing, Hawkaw. I, too, look forward to meeting you. I'm so glad that the daughter's medical condition has stabalized.
Does his daughter have a court appointed lawyer representing her? The legal shenanigans can be ridiculous, and one party can drag things out deliberately, knowing that the other party has limited funds/resources to pay legal fees. How many millions or was it billions did the WT Corporation make last year? Considering that, I hope the child welfare department is able to provide legal services and expertise to match those of the WT's lawyer. It is certainly unfortunate that sometimes "justice" goes to those who have the best finances.

Thank you for the update, messenger.
You would wonder if they couldn't shorten the length of those meetings to allow the daughter to rest.
I admit it, I don't understand how any parent could martyr their child. It is frightening.
